Apply in the right place, not just fast
Most large American employers accept applications only through their own portal. A job board can show you the opening, a friend can tell you about it and a recruiter can invite you to it, but the form that actually enters the system is almost always hosted by the company.
This page collects those official destinations for every employer we cover, organized by what you are trying to achieve rather than by industry, so you can go from a goal to the correct portal in one step.
It also flags the traps. Several corporate careers sites detect your location and redirect you to the wrong country, or split hiring across two separate portals for the same brand. Those cases are marked in the sections below, because clicking the obvious link can quietly send you to postings you cannot apply for.
Every green button with the ↗ arrow opens an official external site in a new tab. When you click one, you leave this site. Blue links with the → arrow are internal and keep you here.
Three things worth knowing before you click anything
An application is a competition, not a form. Submitting does not create an obligation for anyone. Neither this page nor any website can guarantee an interview or a job, and any site that promises one deserves suspicion.
You should never pay to apply. Legitimate employers and legitimate agencies do not charge candidates for applications, interviews, training or placement. Requests for payment, or for bank details before an offer exists, are the clearest warning sign in a job search.
Pay is local. The same role at the same chain can pay differently in two states, and sometimes in two cities in the same state. Where we cite a figure, it comes from the employer’s own published communication and is attributed. Confirm it on the specific posting before you count on it.
Goal 1: start working soon, without previous experience
Retail chains and warehouse clubs are the most accessible entry point in the American labor market. They hire continuously, location by location, and most of them train on the job. What they screen for is reliability and availability, so being clear and realistic about the hours you can work matters more here than a polished resume.
Amazon
Two separate portals for two separate populations. Hourly roles in fulfillment centers, sortation and delivery are handled by the hiring site; office, engineering and management roles are handled by the corporate site. Applying on the wrong one is the most frequent mistake with this employer.
Both buttons take you off this site, to Amazon’s official portals.
Walmart
Stores, online order fulfillment, distribution centers and corporate roles all run through one careers portal, filtered by location and job family. Walmart reports roughly 1.6 million associates in the United States for fiscal year 2026, which is why openings near you are rarely scarce.
You will leave this site (external portal).
Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club is a Walmart division, so it has no separate corporate careers domain. Its openings sit inside the Walmart portal, in a dedicated section. Walmart reports nearly 600 clubs across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Target
Store, fulfillment and distribution roles, plus corporate positions, on the company’s careers pages. Target communicates more than 2,000 United States stores and more than 400,000 team members, and it runs a large seasonal intake ahead of the holiday period.
You will leave this site (external portal).
Costco
Warehouse and front-end roles are posted by location on the company’s own careers site. Costco relies heavily on internal promotion, so entry-level openings are the usual way in.

ALDI
The American arm of ALDI runs its own careers domain, separate from the group’s international sites. ALDI US has announced starting wages of 18 dollars per hour in stores and 23 dollars per hour in distribution centers, and a store count approaching 2,800 by the end of 2026.

Lidl
A regional employer in the United States rather than a national one. Lidl US states more than 185 stores across nine states and Washington, D.C., with its American headquarters in Arlington County, Virginia, since June 2015. Check the location filter before investing time in an application.
You will leave this site (external portal).
Home Depot
Store, specialty and supply chain roles. Product knowledge counts more here than in general retail, and previous trade experience is a genuine advantage in several departments.
You will leave this site (external portal).
Lowe’s
The other national home improvement chain, with store roles and a distribution network behind them. The careers portal uses a country and language path, so keep the United States version when you navigate.

Goal 2: delivery, warehouse and logistics work
Logistics hires on shifts rather than on office hours. Early morning, overnight and weekend patterns are normal, volume rises sharply between autumn and January, and seasonal contracts are a standard route into permanent roles. Read the physical requirements in the posting carefully: they are stated for a reason.
UPS
Use the United States path. The UPS careers domain detects your location: opened without the country and language segment, it can return a page in another language with jobs in another country. The link below goes straight to the United States version.

FedEx
One brand with several operating companies behind it. The careers portal covers them together, so filter by division as well as by location: the same job title can mean different hours and a different work pattern depending on whether it sits in the express or the ground network.

Goal 3: restaurant, quick service and coffee shop work
This is the sector where the question “who is actually the employer” matters most. A large share of these restaurants are owned and staffed by independent franchisees, who set schedules and make hiring decisions themselves.
The corporate careers site and the restaurant application flow are often two different systems, and the corporate one may only list office roles.
McDonald’s
Two different doors. The corporate careers domain is the global site, aimed largely at office and international roles. Applications for restaurant crew and management positions in the United States run through a separate hiring platform, which is where the link below goes.

Burger King
Restaurant and corporate opportunities on the brand’s careers site. Ownership changed shape in 2024, when Restaurant Brands International completed the acquisition of Carrols Restaurant Group, bringing more than a thousand restaurants under company operation with a plan to refranchise most of them over several years.

KFC
Kitchen, front counter and shift leadership roles across a heavily franchised network. Openings are listed by restaurant, so search by address rather than by city center.

Subway
Watch the redirect. An older careers address on this domain sent our test straight to the Brazilian site. Use the United States careers page below, and if you land on a page in another language, correct the address rather than applying from there.

Starbucks
Barista and store leadership roles sit alongside corporate positions on the same careers site, with separate sections for each. Benefits eligibility is one of the main reasons people target this employer, and it is documented on the site itself.

Goal 4: pharmacy and healthcare services
The two national pharmacy chains hire in two modes at once: retail roles that resemble any store job, and licensed roles that require certification granted at state level. If you are aiming at the licensed side, verify the requirements of your state before applying, because they are not uniform across the country.
CVS Health
Store, pharmacy, distribution and clinical roles on one portal. The company describes a workforce of more than 300,000 colleagues, spread across retail locations and healthcare services.

Walgreens
Store associate, pharmacy technician and pharmacist tracks, each with its own requirements. The technician route is the usual bridge for people moving from retail into healthcare.

Goal 5: a corporate career in technology or engineering
These employers run structured processes with defined stages and, for early-career roles, fixed intake cycles. Applications go through the company’s own system, referrals carry real weight, and the interview loop is usually documented on the careers site itself. Read that documentation before preparing: it tells you what is being assessed.
Google
Applications and profile management run through the careers application area, which also publishes how the hiring process is organized and what each stage looks at.

Microsoft
Engineering, cloud, sales and business roles on one portal, with separate paths for students, interns and experienced professionals. Filter by profession as well as by location.

Apple
Corporate, engineering, design and retail openings share a single job search. Retail roles are listed by store, so search geographically if that is the side you are aiming for.

Tesla
Manufacturing and technician roles at factories are posted alongside engineering, software and energy positions. The two populations are screened very differently, so read the requirements rather than the job family name.

Dell
One of the more remote-friendly employers in this list, with sales, support, engineering and IT roles. The careers domain forwards to the company’s application portal.

Goal 6: consulting, audit and corporate finance
Professional services firms hire in cohorts with published deadlines. For students and recent graduates the calendar is as important as the resume, because most seats are filled through structured intakes. Experienced hires follow a separate track on the same portals.
Deloitte
Applications for the United States practice run through a dedicated application portal rather than through the main corporate site, which is a frequent point of confusion.

PwC
Audit, tax and advisory openings in the United States practice are listed on a dedicated job search, with separate entry points for students and experienced professionals.

Accenture
Closer to technology consulting than to audit, with delivery, strategy and technology roles. Use the United States careers path so that the listings match the country you intend to work in.

Goal 7: consumer goods and beverages
Large manufacturers publish corporate openings on their own sites, but in this sector the corporate portal often covers only part of the workforce. Distribution and field roles frequently belong to separate companies that share the brand without sharing the payroll.
Coca-Cola
The company is not the system. The Coca-Cola Company reported 65,900 direct employees as of 31 December 2025, while the wider Coca-Cola System is far larger. Many hourly roles associated with the brand in the United States, such as driver, merchandiser and fleet mechanic, are hired by independent bottling companies that recruit on their own sites. The corporate portal separates the two, and it is worth using that distinction.

Unilever

Goal 8: a public service job
Federal hiring is centralized, published and slow by design. Announcements state the requirements, the pay scale and the closing date up front, and eligibility rules decide who can be considered before anything else is evaluated. City and state governments run their own portals, so a federal search will not show you municipal openings.
USAJOBS
The federal government’s official employment site, operated by the Office of Personnel Management. This is a public service, not a commercial job board: there is nothing to buy and no reason to pay a third party for access to it.
You will leave this site. Official government site, not a partner link.

Goal 9: search across many employers at once
When there is no shortlist yet, the search layer comes first. Job boards and professional networks aggregate openings from thousands of employers and let you set alerts, which is the efficient way to discover roles you would not have thought to look for.
The trade-off is that open platforms also attract fraudulent postings, so the caution in the box at the top of this page applies most strongly here.
Indeed
The broadest aggregator for the United States. Search by role, location and schedule, save searches and set email alerts. Many listings redirect to the employer’s own portal for the actual application, which is normal and expected.

LinkedIn
More useful for corporate and professional roles than for hourly work. Its real advantage is not the listings but the connections: seeing who you already know at a company, and being visible to recruiters who search by skill.

Goal 10: fields with no single official portal
Some of the paths we cover do not belong to one employer, so there is no official careers site to send you to. Pretending otherwise would be worse than admitting it. In these fields the application goes to a hospital, an agency, a cruise line, a cleaning company or a specific firm, and choosing the right one is most of the work.
The guides below explain how each field is structured and what to check before you commit to an agency or an intermediary.
Healthcare without a single employer
Nursing is hired by hospitals, clinics and telehealth providers individually, and travel nursing runs through staffing agencies whose contract terms differ substantially. Licensure is granted state by state and is verified before anything else.
Entry-level service work and work at sea
Cleaning is hired by residential services, commercial contractors and hotels, each with different schedules. Cruise ship work is hired by the lines themselves and by authorized partners, and it is a field where fee-charging intermediaries are common enough to deserve real caution.
Whole professional fields
Technology, engineering and finance are careers rather than employers. These overviews explain which roles exist, what qualifications open which doors, and how to build a shortlist of companies before applying one by one through the portals listed above.
Goal 11: a brand that does not hire in the United States
One entry on this page is not an American employer at all, and it is included precisely because people search for it. Carrefour opened in Philadelphia in the late 1980s and closed its United States stores in 1993. There is no American careers portal, no domestic hiring and no route to a store job in this country through the brand.
The link below goes to the group’s human resources page, which covers the countries where it does operate. It is not a United States job application.
Carrefour group (international only)
Not a United States careers portal. Use it only if you are considering working for the group abroad. For hypermarket and supermarket work in the United States, the employers in Goal 1 above are the realistic options.
You will leave this site. International page, no United States openings.

Where to go next
If you would rather browse by industry than by goal, our directory lists every employer guide grouped by sector, from retail and logistics to technology and the public sector. And if you have not decided what you are looking for yet, the visual starting page organizes the same material by situation.
Both links are internal and keep you on this site.
Frequently asked questions
Is it better to apply on the company site or on a job board?
Use both, for different reasons. Boards are better for discovering openings across many employers and for alerts. The company portal is where the application is processed, and for most large employers it is the only channel that accepts one. Finding a role on a board and then applying on the official portal is a normal and effective sequence.
Why does a careers page open in another language or another country?
Because several corporate sites detect your location or your browser settings and redirect accordingly. Two examples are marked on this page: one delivery employer serves a localized page unless the United States path is used, and one restaurant chain redirected an older careers address to a different country entirely.
If you land on a page that is not in English or shows jobs abroad, correct the address instead of applying from there.
Should I pay an agency to find me a job?
No. Legitimate employers and legitimate staffing agencies are paid by the employer, not by the candidate. Any request for money to apply, to be interviewed, to be trained or to be placed is a warning sign, and so is a request for bank or document details before a written offer exists.
This applies to every field on this page and especially to work at sea, where intermediaries are common.
Do these portals guarantee an interview?
No. They are where an application is registered, nothing more. Selection depends on the employer, the number of candidates, the location and the moment. No page on this site, and no website anywhere, can promise a job.
Why does one of these links look different from the others?
Because it points to a government service. Links to commercial partners and links to public bodies are treated differently on this site, and a public employment service is never presented as a partner link. The distinction is made in the markup of the page, not only in the text.
